Volunteer judges from the community make speech event a success
The National Forensic League and the Middle School Forensic League held a successful speech competition at San Vicente Elementary School last Saturday, Feb. 5.
One reason for its success was the individuals in the community who volunteered their time to be judges. Many of them were teachers from various schools, who as follows: Christina Nierras and Zandra Um from Saipan Community School; Kelly Metcalf and Rebecca Newman from Mt. Carmel School; Art Sondheim from William S. Reyes Elementary School; Michelle Rasa from Saipan Southern High School; Sara Rockhey and Jessica Coletta from Calvary Christian Academy; Bertha Leon Guerrero from Marianas High School; Daniel Bacon from Eucon International School; and Melody Actoucka and Vince Riley from Northern Marianas College. Other than teachers were Angie Wheat, Teresita Abe, Jamie Barcinas, Nancy Gottfried, William Appleton from the CNMI Supreme Court, Dr. Susan Fishman of Paradise Island Chiropractic, and Jeanne Huber of PSS.
Judges will also be needed for the March 12 and April 19 competitions. If others from the community are interested, they may contact Mrs. Norman at wpr_nfl@hotmail.com.
