The Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands will hold a mandatory meeting this Thursday in regards to the start of the 25-and-under Basketball League, which was recently pushed back to allow the ongoing 2004 Government Basketball League to wrap up its season.

Managers, coaches, and representatives of participating teams are urged to attend the meeting at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.

Earlier, league coordinator Elias Rangamar informed BANMI president Michael Muna that he and Abner Venus, the other coordinator, would move the Feb. 11 opening date of the 25-and-under league to a more suitable date, citing a scheduling conflict with the government league.

Rangamar said team rosters, waiver forms, any form of identification to verify ages, and membership and entry fees will be due during the meeting.

So far, six teams have reportedly confirmed participation to the BANMI 25-and-under Basketball League.

They are Toyota, Hoopaholics-Northern Marianas College, Ghasias Brothers, Cyclones, Ulloa, Garapan Rollers, and San Vicente Sunrisers. Three other teams are on the outside looking in, according to Rangamar and Venus, and they are Tanapag Warriors, 69ers, and a squad from Koblerville.

Players eligible to see action in the league are those whose 26th birthday does not predate the opening of the season.

For more information about the 25-and-under league or the meeting, call league coordinators Venus at 287-5911 or Rangamar at 664-2503.
