The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. will receive a grant in the amount of $60,000 from the Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs to evaluate possible management improvements to its water and wastewater operations.

The grant will fund a peer review of CUC’s management structure, with the objective of improving customer satisfaction and the quality and efficiency of its operations.”

We want to support the CNMI’s efforts to improve its water and wastewater services,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Interior David B. Cohen said in a statement issued yesterday.

“Completion of this project will provide new professional guidelines to enable the CUC to improve public health protection while it improves operations and more efficiently uses resources,” he added.

The grant will be funded through Insular Affairs’ Technical Assistance Program, which generally is designed so that insular areas governments can address critical needs for which funding is not otherwise available. (PR)
