The Commonwealth Government Employees’ Credit Union is running after eight persons over unpaid loans with a total amount of more than $55,000.

The credit union filed with the Superior Court Tuesday seven separate civil actions against the defendants.

Among those sued by the credit union was Concepcion V. Guerrero, who allegedly owes it more than $10,177.25; Maria P. Kaipat, $10,516.09; Luis K. Pelisamen, $9,421.45; Lorenza L. Max, $9,678.29; Victor N. Gates, $7,408.01; Jose Y. Eledui, $3,573.22; and Antonieta and Augustin Aguon, $4251.50. All eight defendants are residents of Saipan.

The defendants allegedly obtained varying loan amounts from the credit union from 1996 to 1998. The credit union’s attorney, Michael White, claimed that the defendants defaulted on their payments, leaving huge sums from the loans unpaid.

White said the defendants failed to settle their debts despite demand for payment by the credit union, prompting the latter to seek judicial remedy.
