The Superior Court sentenced a man yesterday to one-year imprisonment for possession of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as “ice.”

Associate judge Ramona Manglona meted out the prison term on Joseph Aldan, who earlier pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance. The judge also ordered that Aldan be placed on four years of probation after serving jail time.

The Attorney General’s Office originally charged Aldan with two counts each of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.

Defense lawyer Eric Bozman said the three counts other than the one Aldan pleaded guilty to were dismissed, following a plea agreement between his client and the AGO.

Bozman said Aldan owned up to possession of less than an ounce of ice on Saipan sometime in April 2004.
