A rash of domestic violence, assault cases
The brother of an incumbent lawmaker was recently arrested over a domestic violence complaint lodged by his ex-girlfriend.
The Attorney General’s Office also filed with the Superior Court last Wednesday six separate criminal cases over incidents of domestic violence, including one in which a woman was tagged as a man’s assailant.
Police arrested Antonio Adriano early Friday morning over a fight with his ex-girlfriend at the parking lot of a coffee shop in Garapan. The woman allegedly refused to have sex with Adriano when the latter held her down inside her car to prevent her from going out of the vehicle.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric David said that Adriano, a former police official and currently a chief security officer for a private company, was released from custody last Saturday. As of press time, no charges have been filed by the Attorney General’s Office against Adriano.
Meanwhile, the AGO filed six separate criminal cases over domestic violence incidents, including one against 37-year-old Flora S. Ikesakes. She allegedly assaulted Augustine Ikesakes last Feb. 12 on Saipan. CNMI chief prosecutor David Hutton charged the woman with assault and battery and disturbing the peace.

Belza of San Roque, who allegedly assaulted a woman last Jan. 29. Hutton additionally charged Belza with interfering with a domestic violence report for allegedly preventing another person from reporting the incident to police.
Hutton also charged 19-year-old Stanley K. Tuwua of San Vicente with two counts each of assault and battery and disturbing the peace. Tuwua allegedly assaulted a woman and one Francisco Tuwua last Jan. 15.
