Marine officer to hold 5-day recruitment drive
The Military and Veterans Affairs Office said that a U.S. Marine Corps officer will soon be in town for a five-day recruitment drive.
Sgt. Eric F. Arriaga, who is based in Agana, Guam, told the Veterans Affairs Office that he would be on Saipan from March 22 to 26 and will visit the Marianas High School, Saipan Southern High School and Kagman High School.
Although the recruitment agency has been on the island before, Veterans Affairs Office administrative officer Clare Fejeran said this will be the first time it is collaborating with the local veterans office.
Before, the Veterans Affairs Office would receive numerous calls from interested parties about joining the Marines, but the office could only provide the contact numbers of the Marine Corps office on Guam.
Deputy executive officer Ruth Coleman was finally able to get in touch with the recruitment agency and Fejeran said the Veterans Affairs Office is glad they were able to convince Arriaga to visit Saipan.
The Marine Corps office said that, as Marines, interested individuals will enjoy all of the great benefits that soldiers from all military branches provide, such as a great starting pay and regular raises, technical training in a wide variety of fields, free meals, and housing, along with free medical and dental care, 100-percent college paid tuition while on active duty, travel opportunity, commissary and exchange usage and 30-day paid leave and vacations, plus weekends and holidays.
For more information interested parties are encouraged to contact the Military and Veterans Affairs office at 664-2650 or contact Arriaga starting Tuesday at the Hyatt Regency Saipan, 235-6940 or through his mobile phone at 671-687+6443.
