Theft, assault cases flood Superior Court
The Attorney General’s Office inundated the Superior Court’s docket with numerous theft and assault cases Wednesday, filing criminal charges against 13 persons.
CNMI chief prosecutor David Hutton lodged criminal charges against five persons for shoplifting at different establishments.
Charged with theft were Billy Lann Anko, a 57-year-old resident of China Town, who allegedly stole two pairs of branded sunglasses from the Duty Free Shoppers last Sept. 14; Feng Zhen Guo, 39, of Garapan, who allegedly took a branded lighter and key chain from DFS last Nov. 22; and Obeas Out Ngimatii, 57, of China Town, who allegedly stole a pair of branded sunglasses from DFS last Sept.15.
The prosecutor also charged with theft 34-year-old Ignacio T. Ruan of Garapan, who is accused of stealing a branded watch from Caronel Watch Center last Jan. 31; and Ok Hwa Han, a 28-year-old Chalan Kanoa resident, who allegedly took a cosmetics item from the Joeten Shopping Center on Valentine’s Day.
Twenty-three-year-old Eria Elliot of San Jose is facing burglary and theft charges for allegedly stealing from one Brad Elliot some home appliances. The criminal information against Elliot did not mention her relationship with the victim, if any.
Hutton charged 28-year-old George Miller of Koblerville with attempted burglary and criminal mischief for allegedly trying to barge inside the Garapan house of one Xuero Hon by breaking the window.
Meanwhile, Hutton also charged Miller and 28-year-old Carl Martin of Chalan Kanoa with three counts each of assault and disturbing the peace and a count of criminal mischief in a separate case. Hutton said the two defendants mauled three men—Ali Ahmed, Nazrul Islam, and Bozlur Rahman—and damaged several homes in Chalan Kanoa last Aug. 26.
Facing assault and battery and disturbing the peace charges in separate cases were Tuwua, 27-year-old John M. Dela Cruz of Kagman, and 46-year-old Christopher P. Campugan of Koblerville. Hutton accused them of attacking Domingo G. Zamora, Rico Calotes, and Joebelito Andebor, respectively.
Also facing similar charges and criminal mischief was 18-year-old Ryan S. Duenas of Chalan Kiya, who allegedly attacked an underaged person and damaged the vehicle of a woman nearly two months ago.
