2 members named to Humanities Council
Gov. Juan N. Babauta recently appointed Rosemond B. Santos and William R. Barrineau to the board of directors of the NMI Council for the Humanities.
Santos is an assistant attorney general in the Criminal Division. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s staff, Santos worked at the Legislative Bureau and served as the coordinator for the First CNMI Youth Congress. Santos earned a bachelor’s degree. in Political Science and a Juris Doctor in Law.
Barrineau is no newcomer to the council, having served as its executive director for 10 years from 1992 to 2001. Before his employment with the council, Barrineau was a classroom teacher at Marianas High School and later headed the English Department at Northern Marianas College. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English and an M.A. in Literature and Language Arts.
Santos and Barrineau replace Paula Bermudes Castro and Fermin Meriang whose three-year terms expired earlier this year
The council is a private, 501 C 3 corporation committed to supporting quality humanities programs in the Commonwealth. Its board comprises 13 members, three of whom are gubernatorial appointees. (PR)
