Winning, let TOC count the ways
Winning in the 10th Annual Tournament of Champions is not limited only on the golf course, as players and sponsors alike have a variety of ways in coming home with fabulous prizes.
According to the organizing committee chairman Rodney Klinge; the first opportunity to win big is during the raffle at the Johnnie Walker Social, which would be held on Aug. 5 at the Aqua Resort Club Lobby Bar between the hours of 6pm to 8pm.
“Sponsored by Johnnie Walker, the event is a social mixer get-together for all of the entered sponsors and players as well as the TOC organizing committee. Johnnie Walker is donating all of the proceeds from this event to the NMI Crime Stoppers program,” said Klinge.
Then on tournament play dates on Aug. 6 and 7, Klinge said participating golfers would have an opportunity to win any one, or any combination of, some 23 hole-in-one prizes, amounting to nearly $400,000 total.
At the check in area at the golf course on both days, $1 raffle tickets will be on sale providing the 10 ticket-winning participants an opportunity to take one of 10 shots being provided to make a hole-in-one from 170 yards minimum.
If made, each shot is worth $1 million for a total of $10 million in potential winnings for all 10 shots, according to Klinge. He said the event is sponsored by Bank of Hawaii, Johnnie Walker and Car Quest Auto Parts.
All raffle tickets purchased for this event, whether they are drawn or not, will go to the Player’s Banquet Sunday evening.
Raffle tickets will again be on sale at the Player’s Banquet, which would be held after the tournament on Sunday evening, Aug. 7, 6pm-10pm at the Grand Hotel.
“Except for the cars and the cash being offered as hole-in-one prizes on the courses, almost all of the other hole-in-one prizes will be brought to the banquet to be given away in the banquet raffle,” added Klinge.
Among the prizes are luxury leather goods, jewelry, trips to exotic destinations, motorcycles, televisions, and much more. Klinge said several of the prizes are worth well in excess of $1,000 each. Total prizes for the banquet raffle amount to nearly $40,000.
Golfers are reminded to sign up early and take advantage of the early bird entry fee of $200 by July 29. From July 30 to Aug. 3 the entry fee will be $225.
“There are only 120 paid slots remaining and the possibility exists that we may close entries prior to Aug. 3 if we have a full field before then. The tournament in insured to a certain number and once that number is reached, we cannot exceed it,” said Klinge.
Sponsors are also reminded to submit their sponsor exempt entry forms as soon as possible. Klinge said payment is not required for exempted players and these completed exemption forms be faxed to 670-233-1891. All “paid” entry forms must be submitted with payment before the person in entered.
