Environmentally conscious? Intellectually curious? Enjoy a good conversation over dinner?

Then sign up to be a part of the Green Ethics Salons, a series of intellectually stimulating, socially enjoyable gatherings that will explore selected topics in environmental ethics.

The Green Ethics Salons is a joint project of the NMI Council for the Humanities and the Isla Conservation Alliance.

In each salon, participants will be encouraged to examine the ways in which the ideas discussed apply to their own experiences and observations in the CNMI.

There will be a total of five salons held on the third Thursday of every month for five months beginning this August. The salons will begin at 7pm and are expected to last approximately two hours. Dinner will be provided.

Dates, venues, and central topics for each Salon are as follows: Aug. 18 at Coffee Care, Introduction to Environmental Ethics & Values; Sept.15 at 747 Restaurant: Ethics & the Global Environment; Oct. 20 at Remington’s, Social Justice & the Environment; Nov. 17 at AJ’s Restaurant, Green Business Ethics & the Ethics of Consumerism; and Dec. 15 at Abyss, Practicing Environmental Ethics in the CNMI: Defining Sustainability at Home

Participation in the salons is free of charge and all interested individuals are welcome to sign up. Space is limited. Each salon will be comprised of no more than 10 people, including facilitators.

To sign up, interested individuals must fill out and submit an entry form by Aug. 17, 2005. Individuals will be registered on a first come, first served basis. The information provided by entry forms will be used to coordinate the participant lists for each salon. Individuals may be able to participate in more than one Salon, depending on availability.

Entry forms are available at the office of the NMI Council for the Humanities in Dandan, and may be submitted to that same office.

Those interested may also download the forms online at http://cnmi.humanities.org.mp/, click on the “Council Projects” link, then go to “Ethics Projects.” For more information about the salons, please contact Humanities Council staff at 235-4785, or email Tina Sablan at tinasablan@gmail.com. (PR)
