Burglars entered warehouse by making hole on wall
Unidentified burglars were able to enter the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s warehouse in Lower Base and steal equipment and supplies inside by making a hole on the wall of the government building.
Police reported this finding yesterday, as investigation continues in connection with the burglary and theft at the warehouse being used by the CNMI’s Water Task Force.
Acting Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric David said that the estimated value of stolen tools and equipment was actually over $60,000, not just nearly $30,000.
“Unknown suspects pried or cut open a wall that is located on the western portion of the building. It was learned that the suspects managed to get away with a huge [volume] of wire spools, each weighing over a thousand pounds,” David said.
It was unclear as of press time as to what material the wall was made from, according to David.
Police called on the public for assistance by providing any information that might lead to the solution of the case. The department urged those who might have any knowledge about the incident or the suspects to call the DPS at 664-9042 or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272.
