The Division of Environmental Quality honored yesterday afternoon the 30 individuals who won in the recently held 2005 EcoArts Festival in July.

DEQ director John Castro led the awarding ceremony at the DEQ conference room. He said he is happy with the turnout and the reception of the Saipan community to the event, which was held for the first time on the island.

Several representatives from different business organizations attended the event. Cash prizes were given to the winners, including the $3,000 for the Battle of the Bands champion Mix Plate. The cash was considered the highest prize in the festival.

Certificates, plaques and souvenir tote bags were given away to the sponsors of the festival. Platinum sponsors were Joeten Enterprises Inc. DFS Galleria, Pacific Trading Co., DEQ and Mobil.
