Big Brothers Big Sisters to hold Bowl For Kids’ Sake event

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam will hold the 2005 Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraising event today, Sept. 17, from 10am to 1pm at Central Lanes in Tamuning.

The Islanders Club will host the event the same day at Gecko Lanes on Andersen Air Force Base starting at 1pm.

This year’s event is sponsored by Nissan Motor Corp. Guam. Corporate lane sponsors are Bank of Guam; Civille & Tang, PLLC; Deloitte & Touche; Dickerson & Quinn, Ltd.; Hertz Rent a Car; Horizon Lines; Exchange New Car Sales; M V Pangilinan Ent.; Pepsi; Personal Finance Center; Mr. Rubbishman; and Smithbridge Guam. T-shirt sponsors are Ernst & Young LLP; Maher Yanza Flynn Timblin, LLP; and Pentagon Federal Credit Union.

The bowling games are expected to attract nearly 200 participants and fund approximately 25 percent of the organization’s annual budget. Bowlers are asked to get pledges with all funds generated used for local operating expenses such as volunteer recruitment and screening, background checks and match activities.

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam is to provide quality volunteer and professional mentoring services to children and youth and to assist them in achieving their highest potential as they grow to become responsible men and women. The service utilizes the support of mentors in one-to-one relationships with at-risk youth. As a nonprofit organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam relies solely on fundraisers and donations to subsidize its operating expense.
