HOPWOOD SETS NEW MORNING SCHEDULE

Beginning Monday, Sept. 19, the Hopwood Junior High School will be modifying its morning bell schedule.

The first bell will be at 7:55am and Home Room will start at 8am and last until 8:10am. First period bell will sound at 8:10am. First or fifth period will start at 8:15am, just as they have all year. The rest of the day will remain the same.

Home Room will be used for attendance, the daily bulletin, and home-school communication.

“We did not anticipate that the students would be arriving so early on campus, so we have made this adjustment to our daily schedule in order to maintain a safe and orderly campus environment,” school administrators said in a statement Friday.

GTC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTA MEETING

The Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School would like to inform all parents/guardians that there will be a Parents Teachers Association meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005 at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria. Everyone is encouraged to attend this meeting.

WSR EVENT IN SEPTEMBER

The William S. Reyes Elementary School has released a list of the school’s major events for the month of September. They are the following:

Sept. 20 Parent Night for Autism Center, 6pm-9pm
Sept. 24 Parent Forum, 8am-12pm
Sept. 26 WSR Stucco Election
Sept. 28 August/September PeaceBuilder Diner’s Club

UPCOMING MHS ACTIVITIES

To all parents and legal guardians of Marianas High School students:
• As a result of school days missed due to Typhoon Nabi, make-up days are as follows: Nov. 1, Dec. 22 and 23 (There will be classes on these days).
• Open House/Report Card Distribution will be on Wednesday, Oct. 19 (4-6pm).
• Community Council Meeting (also known as PTA) will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 6pm, in the school cafeteria.

AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS’ PARENT NIGHT

Parents who have children with autism spectrum disorders are being invited to a Parent Night on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005.

The event will be held from 6:30pm to 8pm at the cafeteria of the William S. Reyes Elementary School in Chalan Kanoa, Saipan.

Special guest speaker for the night is Rina Marie Leon Guerrero of the University of Washington.

Leon Guerrero, who is originally from Guam, currently works at the Experimental Education Unit at the University of Washington in Seattle. The EEU provides preschool and early elementary education services for students with autism spectrum disorders, using a variety of treatment methodologies, but focusing on Applied Behavior Analysis. The main focus of Parent Night is to bring together parents of children with autism spectrum disorder. The most important aspect is to allow parents to communicate with each other.

“Feel free to bring some snacks or drinks to share with others, but please don’t feel obligated to do so,” according to a statement from the organizers.
