Those itching to see more action as ones witnessed during last April’s Fury Fighting Islands have another golden opportunity as Trench Tech will host a mixed martial arts fundraising event on Saturday, Nov. 26.

This according to event coordinator Cuki Alvarez, who disclosed that the event, dubbed as Trech Warz Fight Night, will be held at the Trench Tech-Purebred Saipan Gym located behind Moylans Insurance in Garapan.

The event will feature 15 bouts in various disciplines such as boxing, kickboxing, gi, jiu jitsu, grappling, submissions, freestyle fighting, and no-holds barred full contact fighting.

Alvarez explained that the event serves as a fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the Trench Tech’s new establishment and gym. The new facility is an upgrade compared to the gym currently being used and new equipment necessary for training will be purchased as well.

“It’s Fury at a smaller scale,” Alvarez said in an interview. “We will mainly have guys from our gym and some from the outside, but it exclusively for Saipan fighters. It’s a venue to give guys a chance to work on their skills and for us also to watch and give advice to improve their fighting skills.”

Alvarez added that the fundraiser could be the first of a series that would be held every month, citing that the sport will get a boost in growth and fighters would get the needed exposure to competition bouts before heading into big fights such as ones featured in Fury.

“It’s different when someone just trains and goes straight into a big fight…there’s so much people, you’re in the ring looking at your opponent, and this is a way for them to get use to the situation and remain relaxed during fights so they could showcase their skills in the best possible way.” It will benefit the whole fighting scenario.”

Seats are limited to the about 200 to 250 spectators. Doors open at 5pm and the first fight is scheduled to begin shortly after. The event is expected to conclude at 8pm.
