The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Division will be conducting OPCR and sobriety checkpoints today, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 19.

An OPCR checkpoint would be held this afternoon from 4pm to 5:15pm along Monsignor Martinez Road by the JTV building.

On Saturday, an OPCR checkpoint will commence along Beach Road by Bank Pacific from 11am to 12:15pm. Later that evening, from 9pm to 10:15pm, a sobriety checkpoint will be held along the 2W Highway in Puerto Rico by the Army Reserve.

Each checkpoint at each location will last at least 75 minutes, or an hour and 15 minutes. The OPCR and sobriety checkpoints are part of the DPS’ efforts to deter and detect impaired drivers and to ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

In addition to these activities, DPS traffic officers will also conduct highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser activities.
