The Northern Marianas—Saipan, Tinian, and Rota—welcomed three groups from Russia in the first week of December 2005. With efforts to develop new markets such as the Russia market, the Marianas Visitors Authority co-sponsored familiarization tours brought forth by Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan and the Century Tours.

Fiesta Resort & Spa invited Voyage Magazine from Moscow, which sent two representatives who were able to cover Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. The media representatives were very pleased with the overall outcome of their itinerary in the Marianas.

Although Voyage Magazine representatives would have liked to stay longer, their limited time spent on the islands, proved time well spent.

Century Tours brought two other groups to Saipan on a familiarization tour of the destination—–the Vladivostok travel agents and the Moscow TV program “Good Morning Russia.” Arriving just a few days ago, the travel agents visited the MVA office and praised their tour of the destination as being wonderful and well organized. The agents made various comments on the destination’s attributes and requested information to be translated in the Russian language.

The Moscow TV show, “Good Morning Russia” is also on island making a film on the everyday activities of an islander. The show airs daily to approximately 500,000 televiewers publicizing the destination to potential Russian travelers during the colder periods of winter. Both the media and travel agents will be departing Saipan on Dec. 10, 2005. (PR)
