MVA joins Continental, GVB in RP seminar
Working to increase awareness of the beautiful Mariana Islands, the Marianas Visitors Authority joined Continental Airlines and the Guam Visitors Bureau in providing updated information about the destinations’ products and services to approximately 80 travel agents and media in the Philippines.
The seminar took place at the Edsa Shangri-la Hotel where MVA board director J.M. Guerrero, MVA marketing manager Wayne Pangelinan, and MVA member International Business & Professional College vice president Vince Merfalen presented the Marianas’ information to the travel agents and media.
Just a few days back, the MVA opened its office in the Philippines to market the islands more aggressively, targeting markets interested in leisure vacation, diving, golf, or travel for educational purposes.
“Our efforts in the Philippines are to build the CNMI as a destination that caters to a specific need for the Philippine traveling public. Our discussions with Continental Airlines Philippines, media, and travel agents indicate that the travelers are looking at destinations to visit where reasonable pricing is offered,” said Guerrero.
Continental Airlines is offering a special deal to the CNMI during this season. For only $350, travelers will receive roundtrip airfare from Manila, together with a two-night hotel stay on Saipan. This offer will be marketed at the upcoming Philippine Travel Expo slated for this weekend commencing Friday through Sunday. The MVA is also participating in this event.
“The Philippine market is very niche. Specific interests such as divers, expats, NCLEX are a few of the niche markets the MVA will be attracting. Another possible niche is the Visiting Friends and Relatives market or VFR. With approximately 15,000 Filipinos on Saipan, this could very well be an opportunity to expand on,” said Pangelinan. (PR)
