Chamber looks for 2006 business person of the year
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce begins this month its search for the 2006 Business Person of the Year.
In its monthly meeting last week, the Chamber said that nominees should be a business person “who works on Saipan and is an active member of the community.”
“The winning candidate will be chosen on the basis of what they’ve done in the Chamber and in the larger community,” said the chamber.
People sending their nominations to the Chamber should include nominees’ brief write-up of accomplishments and contributions to the business sector and in the community.
The Chamber, the largest association of business people on the island, awards its Business Person of the Year annually.
Among its previous awardees are veteran business executive David M. Sablan in 2005; Mark Erwin as president and chief executive officer of Continental Micronesia in 2004; Tan Holdings president Jerry Tan in 2003; Alex Sablan of Saipan Shipping Company, 2002; Jay B. Jones, Triple J Motors, 2001; Wendi S. Herring, Pacific Islands Club, 2000; Marian Aldan-Pierce, DFS Saipan Limited, 1999; Joe C. Ayuyu, McDonald’s of Saipan, 1998; Ed Camacho, Pacific Financial Corp., 1997; and Efrain F. Camacho, EFC Engineers & Architects, 1996.
