MVA promotes the CNMI in China
After the successful World Travel Fair in Shanghai on March 27-30, the Marianas Visitors Authority continued its China market promotions in Guangzhou, the biggest city in southern China and the base for the Guangzhou-Saipan charter flight. Leng Bai of the Marianas Visitors Authority attended the Guangzhou International Travel Fair, together with Tinian Dynasty Holidays.
The GITF is an annual international tourist exhibition that has been successfully held for 15 sessions. It has been recognized as one of the most important annual international travel fairs in the Asia-Pacific region; an important tie that links the domestic and overseas tourism circles, and a comparatively important platform for exchange, cooperation, exhibition and marketing between the domestic and overseas tourism circle.
GITF 2008 attracted some 392 exhibitors from over 36 countries and regions all over the world, presenting a rich array of travel agencies, hotel and holiday camp, travel education and training, tourist attractions, tourism media, airlines and variety of tourism products domestic and overseas.
Both MVA and TDH have attended the GITF regularly since 2002. At this year’s event MVA occupied a booth with a theme decoration highlighting the relaxing and paradise-like setting visitors may experience on Saipan and Tinian.
Three scheduled media interviews were coordinated for Leng Bai to deliver a welcoming message to Chinese travelers, highlighting the islands’ treasures. Interviews included TV Southern Satellite, Tourism Guangdong website and Style Weekly Magazine. The interviews were reported and broadcasted during and after the exhibition.
As a supplement to the GITF, MVA hosted a travel agent luncheon party to enhance the Guangzhou promotion trip. Five key travel agents and 12 representatives attended the event. All expressed their willingness to develop the CNMI tourist destination with extra effort, with the involvement and support of both MVA and TDH. Leng Bai expressed appreciation and opened the table for any suggestions from key agents, then introduced TDH as one of its key partners for the China market. The general manager of Tinian Dynasty Holidays, Jacky Cheung, mentioned in his speech that “as a partner of MVA, TDH…will accelerate the market development of tourism for the CNMI, and will also provide constant and quality tourist service for the China traveler.”
“We look forward to continued visitors from the China market,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “Attending trade shows throughout the region with our industry partners allows us to showcase the beauty of our islands.” (MVA)
