SML sets meeting for Budweiser, Fall, Masters leagues

Saipan Major League commissioner Tony Rogolifoi has scheduled meetings for all three of its competitions—Budweiser SML, SML Fall, and SML Masters—this week and next month.

The BSML meeting is set today, Aug. 12, 12 noon at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.

Rogolifoi said the agenda for today’s BSML meeting will revolve around the selection of 2008 awardees. The awards that will be given away after season’s end are regular season MVP, Sportsmanship, Pitcher of the Year, Catcher of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Manager of the Year.

He said all managers or coaches of participating teams in the 2008 BSML are being requested to attend.

The SML Fall meeting, meanwhile, will be held on Thursday, Aug. 14, 5:30pm at the Ada Gym conference room.

Topics to be discussed will include the league’s opening date, league format, eligibility documents, fees, and other related matters.

Rogolifoi said interested teams are asked to bring rosters and, if possible, entry fee of $800, payable to Saipan Major League.

The SML Masters, on the other hand, is set for, Sept. 4, 5:30pm at the Ada Gym conference room. The agenda will be the upcoming Masters League for players 35 years old and over penciled to start in October.

Teams are asked to start securing sponsors. Entry fee is $800 and is payable to the Saipan Major League.
