The annual Energy Fair has been moved from Nov. 26 to Nov. 29, the office of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program said yesterday.

The fair’s overall coordinator, George Fitial, said the activity will be held at the 4-H Civic Center Saturday next week, from 9am to 3pm.

The fair aims to educate people on how to conserve utilities and cost, especially during these times of economic crisis.

Fitial said this would be the seventh year LIHEAP is conducting this kind of activity.

Similar events but smaller ones were recently held on Rota and Tinian.

Fitial said they have invited a number of business establishments to sell their products related to energy savings such as fans, solar water heaters, bulbs and other items.

Interested storeowners who want to set up a booth at the venue may contact Fitial at 287-2577 or 2576 and 2574.

The fair is being done in coordination with government agencies that are involved with energy issues like the Department of Public Health, Department of Public Safety, and the Division of Environmental Quality.

Earlier, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Cecilia Taitano-Celes said this fair is timely because “we have to find ways to make people aware of several methods of energy conservation.”

“We urge them to join and bring any kind of promotional tools,” she said.

She said the fair is a way of combining the little things that can be done to save on energy costs.

LIHEAP will be giving away raffle prizes such as butane gas, light bulbs, aprons and other things that are useful at home. (Nazario Rodriguez)
