Humanities Council to host poetry competition

The NMI Council for the Humanities is reminding all junior high and high schools in the CNMI about the upcoming submission deadline for the Sixth Annual Sengebau Poetry Competition.

Poetry entries must be received by the Humanities Council no later than 4pm on Feb. 18. ach eligible school is asked to hold internal competition to select its top two entries.

Entries may be dropped at the Humanities Council’s office in King’s Plaza in Dandan or sent via fax at 235-4786.

The final recital event will be held at the American Memorial Park Visitors Center Theater at 6pm on Feb. 27. First place finishers will have their names inscribed on perpetual trophies. First through third place finishers will receive cash prizes.

This event is sponsored each year to promote poetry as a literary form. The competition is open to all junior high and high school students on Saipan, Rota and Tinian.
