A Superior Court judge has imposed a $120,000 cash bail for the temporary release of a 32-year-old man who is accused of sexually abusing a female minor on Rota in 2005 and 2007.

Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona also set many bail conditions for Jimmy John Castro Mendiola, also known as Jim.

Police arrested Mendiola at the Sinapalo Airport on Rota Friday morning. He is facing charges of sexual assault in the first degree, sexual assault in the second degree, sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and assault.

Preliminary hearing was set for April 30, while arraignment is on May 4.

Rota Department of Public Safety detective Francis B. Manglona stated in his report that they received the sexual assault complaint on April 13.

Manglona said the first alleged sexual assault happened in April 2005 when the victim was only 9 years old.

The detective said the second alleged incident occurred on May 6, 2005, followed on Nov. 4 and 13, 2007.

The girl was allegedly scared to report the abuses and that Mendiola allegedly once promised to give her a $50 allowance.
