DPS: 76-year-old man died of natural causes
In the case of a body found at the Zen Apartments in Gualo Rai, police shared to media yesterday that the cause of death has been classified as due to natural causes.
Department of Public Safety assistant chief of police and acting public information officer Simon T. Manacop informed Saipan Tribune that the death of the 76-year-old man had been deemed as a natural death. According to initial reports the man had been living alone at the apartment and had been suffering from sickness.
This ruling had come after investigation was launched into the discovery of a decomposing body at the apartment complex early Thursday, Nov. 28. Manacop had shared that early Thanksgiving morning police were notified by apartment staff that a strong distinct smell was coming from one of the apartment’s rooms. Upon arrival police discovered it to be a 76-year-old Caucasian male.
Manacop said that they have since been able to identify the body and were now just reaching out to family and peers and awaiting a response.
Over the past six months, three bodies were found in various stages of decomposition, all males, and all have been deemed as natural deaths.
