Kagman notched its third win in Division B of the 2017 Dove Women’s Spring League after nosing out Kanoa Football Club, 1-0, last Sunday at the Chacha Oceanview Middle School Field.

Britanny Hodge scored the lone goal in the match in the 24th minute to help Kagman remain at the top half of the team standings in their division. Kagman is in second place with its 3-0-2 win-draw-loss record, behind the undefeated Shirley’s Football Club (6-0-0) and ahead of MP United (2-2-0), Paire (0-3-3), and Kanoa (0-1-6).

Hodge’s goal was Kagman’s sixth in the season and with the team shutting down Kanoa, the winning squad has only given up five in the competition so far.

The division-leading Shirley’s has the most goals with 18, as it added three to its tally last Sunday after defeating Paire. Jaibelle Nelmida, Marilou Arriola, and Lillian Podziewski scored for Shirley’s in the final game last weekend.

Podziewski came back from her stint with the CNMI U15 Girls National Team in the EAFF U15 Girls Tournament 2017 held at the Jinshan Sports Center in Shanghai, China last week and handed Shirley’s a goal in the 38th minute. Seventh minutes earlier, it was Arriola who lit up the board for Shirley’s, while Nelmida gave the squad a 1-0 halftime lead after finding the back of the net in the eighth minute.

With Shirley’s blanking Paire, the former has yet to yield a single goal this season, while the latter has made only two and allowed eight.

Meanwhile, MP United-TanHoldings prevailed against Shirley’s FC, 5-1, in the lone Division A game played last weekend.

Gillian Villagomez and Chloe Salvosa knocked in two goals apiece for MP United-TanHoldings, while Britanny Wally chipped in one. Villagomez started things out for MPU-TanHoldings with his shot in the fifth minute, while Salvosa also hit her target early with her goal in the ninth minute.

Marielle Gariguez gave Shirley’s its only goal in the 19th minute to cut the deficit to one, but MP United-TanHoldings got the goal back, thanks to Britanny’s conversion in the 28th minute. MP United-TanHoldings went to add two more goals to its total with Villagomez getting her second goal in the 44th minute and Salvosa doing the same two minutes later.

After the easy victory, MP United-TanHoldings now has a 3-1-3 record for second place in the team standings, while Shirley’s is still at the cellar with its 0-2-6. Paire remains on top with its 6-1-0 slate, while Kanoa (3-0-3) is ranked third.

Paire and Kanoa were supposed to play in last Sunday’s first match in Division A, however both parties agreed to reschedule the game as neither team had enough players to start the duel.
