Saipan Community School promoted some 18 students during their 8th grade commencement ceremony Thursday evening at the Korean Presbyterian Church, with Adeleyah Mojica receiving the highest honors.

In her valedictory address, Mojica shared memories she will cherish. “There are so many things I love and I’m going to miss from this class.”

Mojica also mentioned the challenges they will face and the difference it will make in their life. “Different is not always a bad thing. Whatever situation you get put in just make the best of it…just be yourself,” she added.

In his remarks, Pastor Glenn Jenkins reminded the students of the time and effort they had expended to earn their promotion.

“Congratulations [graduates]. [With] your hard work and dedication, you have reached a milestone in your education,” he said.

Also sharing the stage to extend their appreciation to their instructors and parents were salutatorians Doo Hee Kim and Lissane Loyola.

SCS Jr. High’s Overall Fitness Award was given to Federico Fernandez. For his integrity and leadership, Shin Kimura took home the Citizenship Award.

Graduates were also presented awards for Presidential Academic Excellence, “A” Honor Roll, “B” Honor Roll, and Perfect Attendance.
