Seventy children participated in the first-ever Flores De Mayo held in the Commonwealth Friday night at the Saipan Grand Hotel.

Forty-eight girls wearing splendid gowns of all colors and designs and 22 boys handsome in their Barong Tagalogs and suits sashayed down the specially made catwalk at the Susupe hotel’s cavernous lobby.

The community—led by the parents and relatives of the participants—came in strong to support of the event, as Grand Hotel’s Friday Food Fair, which coincided with the Sagala-themed fashion show, enjoyed brisk sales with the over 300 people that attended.

Acting assistant beverage manager Lance Razon said the first-ever Flores De Mayo on Saipan couldn’t have been staged more perfectly.

“Kids will always be kids, some had tantrums but majority enjoyed the event. The production crew—made up mostly by Grand Hotel staff—was splendid and so was director Oscar [Yema], who did an awesome job,” he said.

Razon thanked Pepsi, Yco Hardware, Jollibee, Saipan Photo Lab, and the management and staff of Saipan Grand Hotel for making the event a successful one.
