Voluntary deportation of 6 workers arrested for illegal employment allowed
The Superior Court has allowed voluntary deportation for six of among the 55 arrested persons for alleged illegal employment during a raid at Rifu Apparel Corp. in As Lito and R&B Corp. in Chalan Kanoa.
Associate Judge David Wiseman granted the Division of Immigration’s request to allow the voluntary deportation of Yanling Su, Qing Chen, Chang Hak Han, Mingshu Li, Hui Huang, and Huo Ping Gao.
Wiseman on Friday ordered the release of the respondents’ travel documents and exonerated their bail imposed for their temporary release.
Immigration alleged that the illegal workers arrested during the raid on April 27, 2006 at Rifu Apparel Corp. in As Lito were not paid on an hourly rate and were given prior instructions about an escape route in the event law enforcers approach the compound.
The illegal workers were not paid an hourly rate, but for each pieces of completed garment products, an Immigration investigator said.
With respect to R&B Corp., the investigator said, they received information that there were 20 Asians working illegally as sewing machine and hand sewers at a trimming plant in Chalan Kanoa. (Ferdie de la Torre)
