With the 6th Micronesian Games just a couple of weeks away, Volunteer Committee chairperson Frances Sablan is still looking for volunteers for the year’s biggest sports event on Saipan.

Sablan said as of June 3, a little over 130 people have already signed on to become volunteers for the quadrennial event.

It includes four volunteers for the administration committee, nine for attaches/liaisons, 15 for finance, one each for food, logistics, security, and media and public relations, 16 for protocol and hospitality, and about 90 for the individual sports.

She, however, said that the number is still short, as she still needs close to 300 more volunteers to complete the figures needed and assure a smooth staging of the Games.

Sablan said the biggest needs are 30 more volunteers for the finance committee, 15 more each for attaches/liaison and logistics, nine for security, and over 100 for the individual sports.

She also needs 90 more dancers for he cultural performances of Chamorro and Carolinian dancers.

All prospective volunteers are asked to bring two passport photos for the certification of all volunteers, and those who did not complete and submit a MG 2006 Volunteer Registration Form will be required to do so and return it via fax or email to Sablan

For more information about becoming a volunteer for the Micronesian Games or any of the other events, contact Sablan by calling 234-3462 or via email at efsablan@pticom.com.
