With the start of the Inter-Government Slow-Pitch Softball League just around the corner, local lords of the longball can take shake the rust from their cleats by forming teams for the upcoming 13th Annual Pacific Islands Club Thanksgiving Softball Tournament.

According to tournament coordinator Jon Cramer, the three-day celebration of sluggers gets underway on Nov. 16 at Tan Ge Softball Field at the Oleai Sports Complex and continues through Nov. 19.

The PIC in San Antonio will be fielding a team again this year as well, but a power-packed squad from Guam looks to return to Saipan by force in the slow-pitch double elimination tournament.

Last year, local favorite No Ka Oi was upset in the finals by the power-packed team from the Pacific Islands Club Guam, as the Clubmates clubbed the home team, 23-12, on Tan Ge Field.

While the winner of tournament stands to take home a substantial amount of cash, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association.

The co-ed slow-pitch tournament will take place on the familiar haunts of Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Softball Field next month but teams should get their $150 registration fees and rosters in before Nov. 14.

Teams are limited to a maximum of 20 players and more information about the tournament is available by contacting Cramer at 670-235-6231 ext. 5148 or via email at seaexec@picsaipan.com.
