PSS’ Waldo to teach courses under Argosy BSBA program
Public School System director of finance Richard Waldo is once more lending his expertise to Argosy University’s BSBA extension program that will be held at the Northern Marianas College starting this month.
Lisa Parker, undergraduate program chairwoman and interim graduate program chairwoman, sought Waldo’s help to teach courses at the college, specifically in Finance, through a combination of onsite and online learning.
Waldo has accepted Parker’s offer. Although the program will start on Oct. 27, Waldo will actually start conducting classes in March 2007. He said the set schedules for the courses would not interfere with his responsibility at the Central Office.
“I love to teach,” he said, adding that this has been his passion in his over 30 years of teaching and working experience.
Waldo graduated with a degree in BA Political Science in 1968. He attended a Graduate Business Program at the University of California in Los Angeles. He obtained his Masters in Business Administration in 1970.
He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1974, maintaining his certification up to 2007. Waldo also has been conducting this type of training since 1979 in cities like Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. He also has been holding Praxis review courses in the CNMI and has taught mathematics and reading courses for the past 26 years.
Argosy’s Fall Session II courses will begin on Oct. 27 in the CNMI. Parker said Dr. Robert Vega from Hawaii would be conducting Business Ethics and Organizational Leadership and Change.
The BSBA program was launched in the CNMI last September with six students.
Interest in Argosy University’s programs is increasing on the islands since the opening of its School of Business on Saipan. The school offers a doctorate degree in Education and the bachelors’ degree Business Administration on the islands.
Parker said that classes are still held at the Northern Marianas College, with whom Argosy has partnered with since last year.
