Horizon Lines will be lowering its fuel surcharge rate by one percentage point, effective Nov. 6, 2006,

The company said in a statement that it has amended its fuel surcharge for the Hawaii and Guam trades, lowering it from 19.75 percent to 18.75 percent.

The amended fuel surcharge was recently filed with the Surface Transportation Board and covers Horizon Lines tariffs 468, 353, and 961. These tariffs govern shipments moving between the continental U.S. and Hawaii and Guam.

The shipping company said this fuel surcharge decrease is the result of the continued downward trend in fuel costs.

“Horizon Lines will continue to monitor fuel costs on a weekly basis and adjust the fuel surcharge as trends warrant. We would like to thank you for all of your continued support,” it said.
