In what has become more of a rule than an exception the Saipan Major League Fall session contest scheduled for last night was cancelled due to poor field conditions caused by yesterday afternoon’s rainfall.

The first place Hustlers and fourth place Tanapag Braves planed to meet under the lights of Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field but the horrible field conditions precluded the talented teams from dotting the diamond.

According to league coordinator Tony Rogolifoi, the squads will return to the Oleai Sports Complex tonight if the weather permits, but if the soggy conditions continue to plague the park the game will be rescheduled at the end of the season.

The Hustlers have gone undefeated thus far in 2006, while the Braves have managed a 1-2 record early in the season. Jess Wabol’s Manhoben is the only other undefeated squad in second place at 1-0, while the North Stars are all even at 1-1.

The only team yet to win a game is the defending champion Pirates, who have struggled in their first two outings against the Hustlers and Braves. They are noticeably not the same squad without the use of gold medal-winning pitcher James Kintol, but they still have the potential to recover and make a run at the post season.
