“Trench Warz IV: Enter the Octagon” is just around the corner, and yesterday, organizers released big news.

According to event coordinator Cuki Alvarez, mix martial arts heavyweight Manny Chong has confirmed to fight in the fourth edition of Trench Warz and will be featured in an under card fight.

Alvarez said Chong will be putting his skills to the test again, and this time, he will be battling 310-lb bouncer Ben Kosam.

Alvarez said Chong, who was on island last month and fought “Kill Billl” Saures, wanted to compete in the event.

“Manny loves Saipan and he took up this fight at the last minute and just wants to come and be here with us,” Alvarez said.

Alvarez said Kosam accepted the fight and looks forward to seeing where his skills stand.

“He said he respects Manny…he knows he’s a champ, but he’d love to try it out,” Alvarez said.

Meanwhile, Alvarez said several changes were made to the fight card.

Trench Tech Purebred Saipan’s Frank “The Crank” Camacho, who holds a 4-0 win-loss record, was originally scheduled to battle Guam’s Chris Lorenzo in the semi main event, however, Lorenzo was not able to break into the weight class required for the fight.

“He’s at 155 lbs. and couldn’t gain the weight, so we had to make a change,” Alvarez said.

With that, Lorenzo will face Giovanni Sablan, whose original opponent, George Santos, had to pull out due to injury.

Camacho, meanwhile, will be fighting Troy Munoz of Guam, who enters with a 3-0 record and outweighs Camacho by 20 lbs.

“This is going to be Frank’s biggest challenge yet,” Alvarez said. “This guy [Munoz]…all of his wins coming over fighters from Spike 22 Purebred Guam. He’s a power puncher athlete.”

Other fights include Spike 22’s Peter Alvarez taking on Paul Silk, Arthur Reyes facing Jay Muna, Tunz Ngotel battling Lucky Sharri, and Jay “Furbs” Santos fighting Shabb Sablan.

Ken “Terror” Tanzawa is also scheduled to battle P.J. Mettao, Roland Delos Reyes will fight Edward Guiao, and Leroy Sablan will take on Jess “J-Dawg” Ruben before James Blas and Martin Castro collide.

Dragon Tribe’s Peter Guerrero will also get into the action as he faces Chris Sablan.

The fight will then be followed by a boxing match between local amateur Aguinaldo Tesada and Yasu Tsutumi.

Shortly after, it will be the battle of San Nicolas’ as Mariano and Rick face off.

Jason “Rush” Tarkong will then battle John Tudela, followed by a fight featuring Syl Teregeyo and J.D. “Out” Reyes.

The main event will feature Slade “Rage” Adelbai taking on Tony “Xcalibur” Nekaifes.

“Trench Warz IV” hits this Saturday at the Saipan World Resort. Tickets are available at Joeten outlets, with general admission at $25 and VIP seating costing $40.
