Do people regularly comment that you look tired or mad even when you are not? Do you look older than you feel? In this day when individuals are more active and health conscious, when we work to keep our bodies in shape, what can we do to maintain a refreshed appearance? We all take steps to enhance our appearance, and for some, one of the world’s most rapidly growing methods of maintaining our facial appearance—Botox Cosmetic—is now available at Marianas Eye Institute. Many people have gone to great lengths and distances to receive Botox, but now the treatment is available in the CNMI.

Although most facial cosmetic procedures require surgery, Botox Cosmetics is a quick procedure with no down time and is inexpensive. Initially Botox was used in the 1970s by ophthalmologists to help correct over-active eye muscles that caused uncontrollable blinking. In 2002 the FDA approved the use of Botox for cosmetic purposes, and it has gained in popularity ever since.

Marianas Eye Institute’s CEO, Russ Quinn explains why the Botox Cosmetic treatment is being offered: “We were receiving a growing number of requests for Botox Cosmetic. Patients are aware that ophthalmologists are trained in procedures in and around the eye and, along with dermatologists and plastic surgeons, they are leaders in Botox Cosmetic administration. We pride ourselves on being on the cutting edge of technology and services, and in providing our clients with the services they request, so this fit naturally with Marianas Eye Institute’s mission.”

“We’re fortunate to have Dr. David Khorram, who is listed on the ‘Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists’ here to administer Botox,” said Quinn. “He is known for his gentle touch and his ability to explain complex ideas to those who seek his care.”

Botox can dramatically improve most wrinkles that are caused by over-active muscles. Many people, both men and women, over the age of 30 may benefit from Botox if desired. The furrows between the eyebrows express anger or hostility, and these lines often exist with no such intent. By preventing the contraction of the underlying muscles, Botox smoothens and decreases the appearance of these “frown lines” between the brows. It is also often used to soften “crow’s feet” at the corner of the eyes, and “brow lines” on the forehead.

Individuals that are interested in learning more about the procedure are encouraged to visit Marianas Eye Institute located on Beach Road across from the 13 Fisherman Memorial or call 235-9090 or visit our website at www.MarianasEye.com. (PR)
