‘Be Cool, Make Art’ exhibit at GCA
After undergoing eight two-hour sessions in sketching and painting, 35 elementary students of the Grace Christian Academy will be having their art exhibition today, Oct. 31, 2006, at 5pm at the GCA Art room.
The event is entitled “Be Cool, Make Art,” emphasizing the importance of encouraging the kids in making art and enhancing their skills in enjoyable ways. The theme of their exhibit is “Glorifying the Creator through our creativity.”
One of the instructors, Benjie “Mang Ben” Ganapin, explained: “God is our Creator and when He created us, He imparted to us His creativity. We are created in His image and it’s just right that we, His creation, should glorify our Creator. We should reflect His glory through our skills and talents, and it’s really cool when you worship and glorify God in making art.”
GCA principal Faith Dela Rosa developed this after-school art program when she first saw the potential of the students.
“The kids are so excited in displaying their works. They were so patient in developing and practicing their skills and are now offering their best. It’s a good thing that, at a very young age, these kids are praising the Creator through sketching, watercolor works and oil painting pieces,” said Ganapin. “Definitely, this is a big event also for their parents who are the primary encouragers of the kids. With, their immeasurable support, the kids who will be the future artists of our community are able to do their first and meaningful exhibition.”
