Daniel won for the second time in as many games, while Samuel made a solid debut as action in the Filipino Community Church 2nd Inter-Color Basketball League continued Monday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Daniel got solid production from everyone that suited up as 13 players scored to lift the team to a 112-83 blow out victory over Gideon.

Veterans James Abuy, Elmer Esdrelon, and Junar Guiab got their team off on the right foot as Abuy knocked in nine points and Edrelon and Guiab each had eight points, enabling Daniel to take a 27-19 lead at the end of the first period.

Jhun Tabora picked up where the three left off and had seven markers in the second period, but Daniel was not able to really stretch away as Gideon was able to keep pace. Even with Gideon playing better, Daniel was able to head into the break ahead by nine points, 48-39.

Daniel then hit turbo mode in the second half as Dennis Vinas scored 11 points to spearhead a 33-20 third quarter run for an 81-59 lead.

The fourth quarter was pretty much the same as Daniel sped away for the 29-point victory margin.

Vinas was the top scorer for Daniel with 19 points, while Abuy added 11 points. Rick Alegre and Guiab also had 10 points apiece.

Earlier, Samuel made a strong debut with a 67-55 victory over Hosea.

The two teams were pretty even in the opening 10 minutes, with Hosea holding a 14-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Samuel cagers then picked it up a notch and outscored their opponents, 22-12, to take a nine-point lead into halftime, 35-26, but Hosea came storming back and cut the deficit to just five points, 41-46, by controlling the third quarter courtesy of Renato Batallones’ eight points.

It was Samuel’s game, though, as Roy Hernandez, Wylie Paez, and J.P. Kim combined for 15 points to keep their team ahead in the fourth.

Paez finished with a game-high 19 points to lead Samuel, while Batallones paced Hosea with 14 points. James Camacho and Abe Sandig also had 13 and 10 points for Hosea.
