Acting Gov. Joseph Mendiola yesterday appointed Antonio M. Borja to serve another term as member of the Commonwealth Development Authority board of directors.

Borja’s position as Tinian representative to the CDA board has since been vacant since his previous term expired in late August 2006.

Borja’s appointment requires confirmation by the Senate. If confirmed, he will serve a four-year term.

Currently, the board consists of three members from Saipan, including a representative from the women sector: Marcie Tomokane, Manny Sablan, and Pedro Itibus.

Vincent Calvo and Oscar Quitugua represent Rota. Edwin Hofschneider sits as a Tinian representative.

Originally appointed by the previous administration, Tomokane, Itibus, Calvo, and Hofschneider were asked to resign when Gov. Benigno R. Fitial took office earlier this year. The four were subsequently reappointed to serve a new four-year term.

The appointees also serve concurrently as board members of the Northern Marianas Housing Corp., a subsidiary of CDA.
