As a prelude to the anticipated kick-off of two weekly additional flights from Beijing next month starting on Dec. 18 and sponsored by Century Tours, a media group of 11 from prestigious news channels and magazines published in China were on Saipan from Nov. 25 to 28.

While here they had the opportunity to tour historical sites, enjoy the beautiful scenery and enjoy the many activities that Saipan has to offer.

At a luncheon held on Nov. 27 at the Benkay Restaurant at Hotel Nikko Saipan, the group expressed excitement about what the CNMI has to offer. “We enjoyed the island of Saipan and all the activities as well as sightseeing and hope that we can come again to visit the other islands of Tinian and Rota,” stated a member of the group.

The media group included representatives from renowned magazines and news organizations such as Lifestyle, Cosmopolitan, Rayli, Tide, Modern Bride, Branding World, Air China’s in-flight magazine, Beijing Evening News, Beijing Times, and Beijing Daily Messages.

The group was on island to have a first-hand experience of Saipan.

“In light of the upcoming Beijing flight slated to arrive the early morning of Dec. 18, 2006, this media group’s visit was a prelude to promote the destination and to provide consumer awareness in the market. As part of MVA and Century Tour’s plan we would like to maximize public relation opportunities created around this event to ensure that consumers will hear about the destination and are aware that direct flights exist,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio.

The additional flights are projected to bring an additional 64,000 passengers per year to the CNMI, which is a 60-percent increase of arrivals from 2006. Developing the China market is key to the goal of attracting 1 million visitors by 2010.

Haruhiko Fujino, director of Sales & Marketing for Hotel Nikko, welcomed the guests and stated that the Hotel Nikko looks forward to serving them in the future.

MVA offers special thanks to Hotel Nikko Saipan for the lunch provided to the guests. (PR)
