Rotary seeks feedback on skateboard project
The Rotary Club of Saipan is holding a forum to exchange information and ideas surrounding the possibility of developing a skateboard park for Saipan’s skateboarding community.
This discussion will be held at the Garapan Central Park on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at 10am.
Laurie Peterka, director of Club Services on behalf of RCS, invites all students, parents, clergy, youth support groups, and agencies, as well as local business leaders, and law enforcement to participate.
“Our agenda will be very simple and rather informal. Those attending could expect to spend about an hour and half with us discussing the concepts of this project,” said Peterka. “Essentially, we need to get the commitment of the skaters in the community and the commitment of those adults who are going to be willing to support the skaters in getting organized. This will be our first topic. Then we will discuss other elements of the project that RCS-SPPC has invested effort into up to this point, such as design, grants and non-profit status, legal issues, and contacts made out in the skating world. This will be the community’s first opportunity to listen and offer their input. People should come even if they can only come for a short time.”
RCS-SPPC extends a general invitation to any persons interested in discussing the establishment of a skateboard park in Saipan. For more information, contact Dennis Yoshimoto at (670) 287-1267 or email to RCS-SPPC@yahoogroups.com. (PR)
