Bayani holds carwash fundraising drive
Officers and members of Bayani Association raised some $300 from a carwash event Saturday last week.
Bayani Association chairman Ed Reyes said that his group sold tickets worth $5 each for the activity, which was held at the Shell Marianas station in As Lito.
The money generated from the fundraising will be used for the group’s projects, including Tuloy Aral, a training program for Filipino workers in the CNMI.
Reyes said the organization also aims to give a portion of the money to Bayani basketball player Robert Tamondong who got injured last August. Tamondong reportedly sustained a knee injury. He is now recovering.
“We want to give even a little. He is our player,” said Reyes and acting vice president Dory Mabuti.
Bayani ended up as the champion in the basketball tournament, which ended last October.
The group’s fundraising is part of the Shell Marianas’ Suds for Funds carwash program.
Other sponsors were Coca-Cola Beverage Company (Micronesia), Inc. and Beach Road magazine.
Shell designated its service station and supplied cleaning materials while CCBC Micronesia provided drinks to the participants.
“We’re happy for this opportunity. It’s fun. We came hear early, brought our lunch food and shared it among ourselves. We also offered food and drinks to people who came,” said Mabuti.
The group first held its carwash activity last August at Shell’s Gualo Rai service station.
The next schedule is set on Dec. 16 at Shell’s Susupe service station.
