Bids for 15 gov’t vehicles open today
Bids for the 15 vehicles being auctioned off by the CNMI government will be opened today.
The Division of Procurement and Supply will accept proposals until 10am today. The bid opening will follow at 2pm.
The 15 vehicles form the second batch of government cars to be sold by the Fitial administration in an effort to raise funds and cut repair and maintenance expenses.
They have been available for inspection at the Procurement Division office in Lower Base since Nov. 13, 2006.
The cars for sale include a 2000 Ford Focus sedan (with a minimum bid price of $3,000); a 1997 Hyundai Sonata ($800); a 1997 Hyundai Accent ($600); 1997 Ford Lincoln Towncar sedan ($500); 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck ($500); and a 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage ($500).
The less-expensive items include a 1996 Nissan Sentra sedan, a 1996 Mazda Protégé sedan, and a Mitsubishi Montero wagon, each with a minimum bid price of $200. Older cars such as a 1991 Toyota Tercel sedan, a 1992 Toyota Camry sedan, and a 1990 Toyota 4Runner wagon are being sold at a minimum bid price of $100 each.
The Procurement Division requires bidders to submit a bond equivalent to 15 percent of the bid amount. Losing bidders will get a refund of the bid bond. If a winning bidder decides to cancel, his or her bid bond will be forfeited.
