Rota student invited to attend 2009 presidential inauguration
Anne R. Atalig of Sinapalo, Rota, has been invited to attend the 56th Inauguration of the President of United States of America in Washington D.C. on Jan. 17 to 21, 2009, as an Inaugural Scholar.
Atalig’s invitation, issued by the University Presidential Inaugural Conference, was due in part to her participation in the National Young Leaders Conference.
Upon her arrival at the state capital, Atalig will join the nation’s most acclaimed students in marking the 56th presidential inauguration.
Atalig, who is a presidential scholar as well as a Bill Gates Millennium scholar recipient, will participate in five days of special events and activities commemorating the Inauguration of the President and Vice President.
At the conference, Atalig will also have the opportunity to meet with White House officials, congressional staff, presidential historians, political experts and commentators—leading decision makers who will actively shape and implement the policies that will guide the nation in the years to come.
The University Presidential Inaugural Conference is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that an individual will never again have as a student.
Atalig is presently in France as part of a study abroad program. She is a sophomore at Dartmouth College, which ranks fifth among the nation’s Ivy League colleges.
Atalig is the daughter of Francisco Atalig and Ofelia R. Atalig of Sinapalo, Rota.
