Department of Community and Cultural Affairs will defend its women’s division title in the Inter-government Softball League against Northern Marianas College-Proa in today’s finals at 6pm at the Miguel Basa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Field.

The defending champions earned the second finals berth after escaping with a 14-13 win over the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. in Wednesday night’s semifinal.

The Proa earned the first finals berth after a 9-7 decision against Commonwealth Health Center on Tuesday.

DCCA, which scored a 22-12 thrashing of Department of Finance on Monday, again relied on the clutch hitting of Bert Camacho to secure their back-to-back title bid.

Camacho went 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, an RBI, and one stolen base. She had an RBI double in DCCA’s four-run second inning.

Nadia Tagabuel also went 4-for-4 with a solo inside-the-park home run in the first inning with her homer coming after Jovie Omar’s two-run shot. Omar went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Doris Rangamar only went 1-for-3 but had three RBIs and one run.

Camacho, Omar, and Rangamar were also at the forefront of DCCA’s offense in their 22-12 win over Finance.

Camacho blasted an inside-the-park home run to lead DCCA’s 10-run third inning scoring, while Omar added a three-run inside-the-park four-bagger. Rangamar went 4-for-5 with a double and a solo inside-the-park round-tripper in the sixth.

In the men’s division, Procurement & Supply stayed alive in the playoff round after slipping out an 20-19 decision against Ports Police, while Law & Order trounced Labor, 20-9.
