Invitation to sign petition
We invite all nonresident workers (Filipinos, Chinese, Bangladesis, Nepalese, Thai, etc.) to support our petition to the federal government for our improved immigration status. We have received news that S. 2739 has passed the Senate. When signed into law by President Bush, S. 2739 will extend U.S immigration laws to the CNMI, establish a federally administered guest worker program on the island, and help to secure our borders.
This is a huge victory for every advocate and person who has fought for decades to see an end to labor and human rights abuses in the CNMI, and to establish a just and democratic labor and immigration system in the CNMI. This is an enormous victory for the guest workers in the CNMI!
Congratulations to Ms. Wendy Doromal for her tireless efforts in helping the plight of the guest workers! May the good Lord always bless and guide you. You are our savior in our quest for justice, fair treatment and improved status and security.
To celebrate the Senate’s passage of S. 2739, there will be a Thanksgiving Mass today, Sunday, April 20, 2008, from 11am to 12pm, at the Mount Carmel Church.
Also, we will be at the Townhouse Store in front of Mount Carmel Church, from 10 am to 6pm, also today, April 20, where we will be collecting signatures from all guest workers.
Thank you for your support! God bless us all!
