Belau Amateur Softball Association board member Brian Adelbai is reminding interested team managers and coaches to start preparing for their 2008 season, which is set to open tentatively next month. The opening date is not yet settled and will be one of the issues to be discussed in their next week’s meeting. The date and venue of the meeting will be announced at a later date. BASA recently crowned Salty Boyz as its Masters league champion when they defeated PTI 83, 2-1, in the three-game finals series. Finals most valuable player Darwin Masaharu and pitcher Leo Bobai led Salty Boyz’ title win. BANMI referees meeting today[/B]
The Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands Referees Association will have a meeting today at 8pm at the Northern Marianas College Gymnasium. BANMI-RA president and CNMI national team coach Rufino Aguon is calling all active referees and members to attend the meeting. Up for discussion is the current and future issues involving Saipan basketball tournaments. Other BANMI-RA officers are Arnold Mesa, vice president; Abner Venus, secretary; and Mike White, treasurer. The current referees officiating in various Saipan basketball leagues are Jess Pabula, Manny Sitchon, Noel Delos Santos, Eric Artillaga, Gilbert Espinosa, and Dado Vistal.
[B]Saturday opening for Tinian Dynasty caging[/B]The 8th Annual Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino Basketball League is set to open on April 26, Saturday, at the Tinian Gymnasium. The annual league, organized by Club TDHC, attracted seven teams led by defending champion Food and Beverage Service department and runner-up casino department. Other competing teams are F&B Chefs—which placed third last year—Finance, Shipping, Housekeeping and F.O., and Security Department. Club TDHC is headed by acting president Eddie Cannoay and supported by TDHC manager Tom Liu and adviser Antonio “Uncle” Quan.
