Kim, Reyes pace pitching and batting

Komoro’s Kim Jae Young and Korean Dreams’ John M. Reyes continued to lead the strikeouts and batting categories, respectively, of the 2008 Budweiser Saipan Major League.

In a list submitted by BSML statistician Joe Lizma, Kim currently has the most strikeouts in the league with 105, followed by Korean Dreams’ Shane Mendiola (91), Kabur’s Kim Hyung Jo (50), and Tigers’ Ben Duenas (36).

Reyes, for his part, tapered off a bit from his .523 batting average (23-for-44) when he went 4-for-10 last week to wound up with an even .500 norm (27-for-54).

Rock Steady’s Byron Kaipat is next with his .472 (17-for-36) with San Roque D-9ers’ Greg Camacho rounding up the Top 3 in batting with his .464 (13-for-28).

Ford Rangers’ Benwachi Taisacan and Korean Dreams’ Jason M. Reyes are leading in triples with four apiece.

Tigers’ Tony Pangelinan, Kabur’s Dave Kapileo, Rock Steady teammates Tony Celis and Manny Sablan, and Komoro’s Jang Hu Hyruk, meanwhile, are all leading the doubles category with four two-base hits each.

Rock Steady’s Tyrone Omar continues to lord it over the runs department with 23 followed closely by Korean Dreams’ Justin Reyes with 21.

In RBIs, John M. Reyes, Rock Steady catcher Manny Sablan, and D-9ers’ John Tenorio are all tied in first with 13 apiece.

Taisacan also joined the homerun race after he hit one Friday during their game against the Tigers. The game also saw him hit for the cycle.

Other players with a homerun each are Tigers’ Dennis Cruz, Kabur’s Poland Masaharu, Rock Steady’s Ton Manibusan, John Reyes, Komoro teammates Jang Ju Hyuk and Kim Jae Young, and Korean Dreams’ Oliver Secharmidal.

In ERA, Rock Steady’s 1-2 punch of Ton Palacios and Nick San Nicolas pace the category with 0.45 and 0.81, respectively. The two are followed by Rangers teammates Pete Tenorio (1.00) and Mel Sakisat (2.63). Komoro’s Kim Jae Young bring up the rear with is 3.06.
