SHEFA application opens for Fall semester

The Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance program announced yesterday that its is now accepting new and renewal applications for financial assistance for the Fall 2008 semester/quarter.

Any bona fide resident of Saipan or the Northern Island who is a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident; has a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in high school or undergraduate in college; a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 in graduate or post-graduate school; has or will be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours and enrolled in the Fall 2008 semester/quarter in any U.S. accredited college, university, or accredited technical institute issuing postsecondary degree(s), may file a new and completed application and all required supporting documents to the SHEFA Office in Garapan, Saipan on or before July 1, 2008.

The list of required supporting documents is automatically generated and downloaded upon electronic registration and submission of application using SHEFA’s online filing technology.

Otherwise, the same list is accessible and downloadable via the SHEFA website by logging to Documents, Regulations and Law menu option.

All other previous applicants and/or SHEFA recipients who were denied SHEFA assistance may file an application and the required supporting materials to the SHEFA office in Garapan, Saipan on or before July 1, 2008 for the Fall 2008 term.

ALL new applicants and continuing recipients for the Fall 2008 must provide SHEFA with the most current e-mail address, Saipan postal address, and current mailing address for those presently studying abroad or plan to study outside of Saipan. Everyone is also required to provide a student identification number issued by the college of record.
